Recently, a gaming fanatic on Twitter shared a throwback clip from the early 90s. Basically, it was a Sega commercial for its Game Gear handheld console which it first launched in 1990. However, it was more of a challenger for Nintendo’s rising Game Boy at that time.

Not many people may know, but Sega released its Game Gear just a year after Nintendo revealed the Game Boy in 1989. Both devices were 8-bit handhelds. Later, they also testified about their respective successors.

Interestingly, when Sega launched its console, it was well aware that the Game Boy was its direct competitor. In order to win over fans at this time, the creator of Sonic decided to outright poke fun at Nintendo’s device through a very famous commercial.
