Masahiro Sakurai is working on a new Nintendo game – The Outerhaven
One of the things that Nintendo fans really love about the company is that they have certain figureheads that we can look to as great first-party titles see the light of day. And one of them is undoubtedly Masahiro Sakurai. It’s the man who made Super Smash Bros. so grand over the years that we are forever indebted to him. But, after Sora arrived, Sakurai noted that he needed to rest before doing his next project.
Well, while getting an award from Famitsu for “Most Valuable Creator”, he admitted that even though he’s been “quiet” lately, he’s actually working on a new game.
Sakurai had some remarks about winning Famitsu’s Most Valuable Creator award:
Although he is silent, he is working on something. His eyes might be a little tired after that.
He considers the prize as a prize for the staff and contributors of Smash Ultimate since it’s all thanks to them! https://t.co/EkoBO1eAZ6— Kody NOKOLO (@KodyNOKOLO) March 13, 2022
Naturally, he didn’t admit what it was, but that won’t stop players from speculating. Many might honestly hope this isn’t the sequel to Ultimate, because not only is it too soon, but it deserves a break from this franchise, as he himself has noted in the past. But also, we know he has ties to Child Icarus, which many wanted to see on the Nintendo Switch. Either way, we trust Masahiro Sakurai.
